Planning a holiday? Ready to show everyone how well your new low-starch Diet and lifestyle choices are working? Are you already planning to cheat on your diet?
Holiday time is NOT the best time to cheat on your diet! You’re planning on having fun, right? So eating Mom’s pumpkin pie made-from-scratch with flour, sugar, and milk is going to make quite an impact on your happy sugar-free, grain-free gut!
I hear this so often from my Diet & Health Center clients – they were on vacation so they looked forward to eating all the forbidden foods. But who wants to feel badly on vacation? Not me! I’m doing everything I can to stay well, and if that means having “the talk” with the family again about NO pie or stuffing for me, and I brought my own to share, then that’s what we’ll do!
Remember that food-related symptoms can flare up one to four days after eating. Sometimes wheat on Saturday comes on as a Migraine on Tuesday, or a crying spell Wednesday morning. Not to mention the belly-ache that wakes you up Sunday morning….
I think you’ll have lots MORE fun if you stick to what works. Others really don’t care what you’re eating anyway – they’re all too busy worrying about what you think of what they’re eating, right? Stick to the plan and feel good about it. You’ll be proud of yourself and your immune system will thank you too. It’s a better way to enjoy yourself!
