Easy Recipes

“Illegal” Pate

Pate so delicious it should be illegal! // OnDietAndHealth.com

I call this recipe "Illegal" since it's best with lots of butter and duck fat, and a little Brandy, Bourbon or Cognac. It makes a lot, and keeps for a week in the fridge or longer in the freezer.  Pate with brandy is very tasty! I've made this basic recipe for years, changing the herbs or liquor, or adding a few mushrooms to the saute phase. Give it a day or two before eating for the flavors to deepen. If you use several small ramekins ... Keep Reading >

Bacon Jalapeno Bread

jalapeno bacon bread

Here's a savory coconut flour bread, kicked up a notch with jalapenos and bacon! It's from a blog called That Paleo Couple. Here's what Brent and Heather had to say, with a few notes from me.... "We came up with this bread recipe a month or two ago following our invitation to a great pot luck, this time to celebrate an upcoming book, "Beyond Bacon". As adamant pork lovers, we couldn't help but make something with bacon in it.  This is ... Keep Reading >

Cauliflower Tortillas You’ll Love

cauliflower tortillas

This recipe for cauliflower tortillas really inspires me! It's great to have a little wrap to scoop up breakfast eggs and sausage. And these are actually pliable enough to put shredded meats or cooked veggies in them. The chef who created this recipe inspires me too. Joshua Weissman was just 17 when he created this (and other) recipes and lost 100 pounds on a Paleo diet.   Read his story below and check out his site at SlimPalate.com. ... Keep Reading >

Grilled Avocados with Blistered Tomato Salsa

grilled avocado

This recipe is inspired by Chef Rick Bayless who specializes in gourmet Mexican foods.  It's yummy! I never had warm avocado before, have you? Get the rest of the meal ready before you finish the grilling on this one.  Enjoy something different on the grill this year.   ... Keep Reading >

Vinaigrette Dressing – So Easy!

Perfect for salads, marinades, and veggies

A good vinaigrette dressing is a thing of beauty. Easy, fast, and makes anything taste good.  Use it on meats, salads, or vegetables, and adapt with whatever you have on hand. Here's first a basic vinaigrette followed by lots of with easy variations. I use these all year round on simple steamed veggies or grilled meats. I don't need other recipes - just add a splash of one of these flavors and you have a new dish to enjoy.  EASY ... Keep Reading >

Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Walnuts

brussel sprouts

Here's a better way to make Brussels Sprouts - with bacon and walnuts. Most people overcook these little cabbages but they're delicious when done right. Brussels Sprouts have Vitamins C and K and the mineral Sulfur which helps your Liver detoxify. This makes a great side dish but is hearty enough for a small lunch. Try it with garlic-infused oil if you're on a low Fodmaps diet and garlic bothers you. Or omit the garlic and try Thyme for ... Keep Reading >

Asian Marinated Crockpot Beef Spareribs

spareribs

A flavorful, meaty, and easy recipe to prepare in your slow cooker! Get out the crock pot and enjoy these Asian marinated beef spareribs after a long workday. Thanks to Juli from PaleoMG for the recipe! For more recipe tips from Juli, you can also listen to Beverly's "Primal Diet - Modern Health" radio show with her at this link! The topic is: "Cooking Without Starches and Dairy". Ingredients:  4-6 lbs Grass Fed Beef Short Ribs (or Spare ... Keep Reading >

Simple Mayonnaise

Simple, Delicious, Paleo Mayonnaise

A simple recipe for mayonnaise that is anything but basic. Try this mayo on your next salad or sandwich! Let me know how this works for you! It's from one of my staff at the Diet & Health Center. SIMPLE MAYONNAISE   INGREDIENTS 1 tsp salt 1 tsp dry mustard powder 1 1/2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice 1 egg 1 cup walnut oil or light olive oil (not regular oil - it's too strong) INSTRUCTIONS  Place in hand ... P.F. Paleo Chicken Lettuce Wraps

"P.F. Paleo" Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Even though this recipe is fresh, light, and easy, it has loads of flavor. Paleo Chicken Lettuce Wraps are popular at many restaurants, and here's your own homemade version. This recipe comes from Michelle at cavegirlcuisine.net.  It's one of her most popular recipes. Check out her book and website for many, many more!   ... Keep Reading >

Wild Salmon Frittata

Primal salmon frittata

Here's my favorite wild salmon fritatta.  It's a baked omelet with salmon and cheese and is perfect for dinner or breakfast. Fritattas keep well, so consider packing it in your lunch box too.  Put in a little re-freeze gel pack and it will be fine until lunch. This recipe has all the vegetables, fats and protein you need, although you could serve with a salad too.  It's a perfect meal. I get all my canned Wild Salmon (and Sardines in real ... Keep Reading >

Fried Eggs in a Bell Pepper Ring

Paleo Fried Eggs in Bell Pepper Rings

This is the easiest thing there is, and fried eggs in a bell pepper ring just might make breakfast a little easier.  If your kids haven't learned to love peppers yet, maybe this will help! I don't recommend cooking in Teflon non-stick or other coated pans as the plastic coating on them will come off into the food - even if you can't see it degrading.  Try enamel-coated iron, or a good old cast iron skillet you don't wash with soap. My ... Keep Reading >

Tropical Chicken Salad

Tropical Chicken Salad

Here's a yummy (and cool) tropical chicken salad from chef Michelle at Cavegirl Cuisine.  Do you get her recipes too? This is so easy and is a perfect family favorite.  It's even good for breakfast. Just grab it from the fridge and you're set! Now, here's what Michele says about it....."This tropical chicken salad has an explosion of flavors and textures in your mouth! The creaminess of the avocado…the crunchiness of the celery and ... Keep Reading >
