Regaining or maintaining health is an individual thing. As a natural health counselor, I can offer clues as to what worked for myself and for clients in the past, and offer guidance for intelligent self-experimenting. Experience, advanced lab work and muscle-response testing help find the priorities your body wants help with first.
All living cells want to survive and be well. Your job is to remove impediments to progress and offer needed nutrients and energy. The body is on your side – it wants to get well!
I follow a two-part strategy in managing my own health, and in assisting others since the 1980’s in my San Antonio clinic, the Diet and Health Center.
- First, remove those things causing the mind or body stress or harm.
- Secondly, add high quality foods, supplements and other support to help the mind and body repair themselves.
“Food First” is my basic starting point every day, as what we eat and drink is the biggest piece of controllable chemistry we have. So first we remove those foods causing you stress or harm!
Upgrading to a Gluten Free Paleo Diet is the first step. Get rid of gluten and sugars, and get more protein, fats and vegetables. This will stabilize your blood sugar and help your adrenal fatigue, bowels, mood, sleep, weight, food cravings and more. Reducing or eliminating grains will reduce your inflammatory burden quickly. Going gluten free can have a huge impact on your Neurology.
“Lifestyle Next”! Lack of sleep, high stress levels at work and home, chronic or acute anxiety, no downtime, and poor exercise choices (too much or too little) have to be addressed and remedied. A body cannot recover if it is exhausted.
The first step to reversing a downhill slide in health is to get stable, and then to slowly turn things around, one area at a time. That means rest, and a change in the way you’re doing things.
For many people, removing toxic food and lifestyle choices may be all that’s needed to improve symptoms. Continuing to look every week at your diet and lifestyle becomes a new lifelong habit!
“Supplements and Medical Support” come last.
The key to addressing accumulated health issues is prioritizing. It helps to find a practitioner who can do extensive muscle-response testing and sophisticated lab work. I rely heavily on muscle-testing to back up my clinical knowledge and lab work. Testing techniques I have used include NRT, AK, ART and Touch For Health.
What is at the root cause of the next layer of your health concerns?
Is it old mercury fillings? A bad bite and crowded dental arches causing you anxiety and immune stress? Are your adrenals affecting your thyroid and sex hormones? Do you have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Are you struggling with persistent low grade viruses and bacteria? Candida?
These and many more issues will be easier for a health professional to isolate once you’ve done the above work with Food and Lifestyle. It is not your Practitioner who is solely responsible for your health – you’re a team!
And while most of us are overwhelmed at the thought of being in charge of our health, you know your body better than anyone and can provide the best clues into what is occurring.
Be strong! Be brave! Count everything you’re grateful for! And carry on with preparing your future for a better outcome. The decisions you make today will be with you for a very, very long time.
