“Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care” BOOK REVIEW

Beverly Meyer

Better Health, Toxins and Health

Nourishing Traditions book of baby and child care is simply one of the best health books I’ve ever seen.

Published by the Weston Price Foundation, authors Sally Fallon Morell and Thomas Cowan, M.D. give us highly readable guidelines to almost anything baby-related.  You’ll enjoy the different sections focusing on multiple aspects of pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early childhood. Every page is packed with well-written and engaging information, studies, suggestions and how-to’s.  When to start feeding iron-rich foods, and why.  When to stop exclusively breast-feeding and why.  How to help prevent dental problems.  What to eat before and during pregnancy.  And on and on…

Ultrasounds, food intolerances, homemade formula, soy, and vaccinations all get attention  here as well as plenty of help for Moms.  The book is easy to hold (it’s not over-sized), and is beautifully laid out without wasting space.  Even if you are not a parent, you will be deeply absorbed in thoughts of your own childhood and how things might have gone differently.

While Weston Price generally supports the use of raw milk and “properly prepared” grains, I need to add here that I find many humans cannot tolerate raw milk past the age of 2 to 5, and that I don’t think most of us can tolerate modern hybridized grains no matter how they are prepared.  But the book does not “force” these topics. It is gently and well-written.  And I definitely agree that raw milk is preferred to pasteurized! This book will explain why if you are new to this.

Support the amazing Weston Price Foundation by purchasing the book at its full $25 price from their publisher New Trends.  Or get it on Amazon.  Either way, it may well be the BEST $25 you have ever spent.  Just ONE less ear-infection and you’ve paid for the book!  Not to mention, years of happier baby and parent well-being.

Bottom line:  don’t pass this up!
