Evan Brand from NotJustPaleo joins me for some friendly rivalry in this fun interview. The mission? List and compare our choices for Seven Aspects of a Paleo Lifestyle. The result? Paleo Lifestyle 101!
The right kind of exercise and a Paleo Diet are givens, so we couldn’t include them in our lists. What else matters most for living in tune with our true human selves?
What are the components of Health and Happiness that Paleo and Primal fans encourage?
What makes Paleo Lifestyle 101 so much more than a Diet??
Stress management is Number 1 for Evan. I brought it in as #3 and had changed my title for it from “Stress Kills” to “Live Where You Want and Do What You Love”. We agreed that wraps up a lot of stress management advice although we talk about this issue quite a bit.
Evan and I were pretty close on most items… Sometimes our ranking for similar things was different and sometimes we had different aspects to include. Evan’s #6 was “Love”. Love and friendship create the tribe and we all need to know who we can count on. Spending some love time with partners and friends ranks highly for Evan.
I’m more clinical about things, so my #7 was “Take better care of your teeth”! Avoiding bad dental fillings and resolving bite and TMJ issues (as predicted by Weston A. Price) rank highly for me in being able to live a happier and healthier life. I see so many health issues relate back to the teeth and jaw – I told Evan that once the diet is clean, checking for dental issues is one of the first things I do with my clients…

It’s a lifestyle that looks to human history for clues. I called it Living by the Natural Laws – sleep when it’s dark, move when it’s light, eat unprocessed food, avoid chemicals and EMF’s and learn how to be responsible for yourself.
Check out Evan’s own great podcasts at notjustpaleo.com. He’s also got a nifty Ebook on Sleep as well. Take a peek at “REM Rehab”.
We spoke about this great book, “Hardwiring Happiness” which you might find helpful. And I’m a big fan of Eckhart Tolle and love to listen to his audio C.D.’s. I can listen in the car and rewind the same section or paragraph 20 times until I get it! Here’s one choice.
Enjoy!
