Work with me virtually or at my Diet and Health Center in San Antonio.
I’ve been in practice since 1985, Board Certified as a Clinical Nutritionist in 1989. Clinical Nutritionists are not Dietitians or Nutritionists. We are a separate, more elite profession working with the chemistry of the body. Lab work is a specialty – I’ve taken many courses on unique types of labs. I carry only professional grade supplements (from more than 50 companies) and attend seminars to explore the research on the latest in cellular nutrition.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a licensed medical doctor and cannot diagnose, treat or prescribe. I help you educate yourself to make better choices and communicate with your doctors.
How did I get into this?
I struggled with food intolerances, Celiac and malabsorption for most of my life. I’ve overcome or am treating Adrenal Failure, Primary Immune Deficiency, severe Epstein Barr, chronic Herpes Virus and debilitating anxiety and insomnia. I tried many different supplements (and a few drugs) and several diets (none vegetarian), learning a lot about the power of food. My DVD “The Diet For Human Beings” sums up why I feel true and correct Paleo (not Keto) is the best template for most people to start with.
My Unique Approach
I don’t know anyone who works the way I do. My goal is to try to locate core issues causing inflammation and stress to all body systems as quickly as we can. We do this first with a food and lifestyle review, not by running random, expensive tests. Or swallowing lots of supplements. There’s more to do but let’s get to your biggest chemistry (food) first. Sometimes this alone resolves your issue.
Why do so many elite practitioners skip this step completely and start with costly labs and heavy doses of pricey pills?? Mine is not a cookbook approach. (If you have symptom XXX, take pill YYY).
Everyday living is where we start. Supplements and labs can follow.
What type of clients do I accept?
Two kinds of people contact me. One wants diet and supplement tips. One wants to change their future. I work with both.
My initial appointments are an hour and a half. Time to really review a food and sleep diary, history, health issues, current meds and labs. I give homework on upgrading the diet, reducing stress and anxiety, and adding a few supplements from my online store or the clinic. Plus other suggestions for what might help you feel and function better.
The other type of client is looking to change their future. It’s what I love and why I engage with such passion helping those committed to their future selves.
Real change. For the long haul. What I’ve had to do in my own life more than once.
**At age 67 I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. Maybe you can be too.**
Tell me which type of work you want and I’ll try to do what you wish. I have limited hours though and cannot accept everyone as a Client.
I ask you please to first think about what you WANT, what you EXPECT and what you NEED. I can’t help a long list of disorders, diet, hormonal and sleep issues in one appointment.
What do I charge?
I charge $150/hour for in-person visits and $175/hour for distance work. Appointments generally are 1 & 1/2 hours long, two sessions to get started (unless you want the one session “light” version). We plan on more sessions every 2 months and an occasional shorter chat for something simple. Rebuilding your body is a process – most people have no idea how depleted they really are.
My rates are affordable to give us the time we need. Many practitioners charge $1000 – $2000 upfront plus hundreds in labs before you’ve even had an interview. Some doing this have never even had a clinic – just course work with an admired blogger or practitioner.
NOTE: ongoing email support is not included in our “talk” time. I do not accept Insurance.

How long do we work together?
That’s up to you. I’ve worked with some clients for 15 years and others only once. Life happens, and ongoing support can be valuable to keep inflammatory disorders at bay, help your weight and hormones stay balanced, and maintain sleep and energy. If you want real change I ask for monthly or quarterly follow-ups. I also do some testing in house with samples you submit.
You’re a work in progress – always will be. Health care never ends.
Do I have specialties?
I’m a generalist – I work with everyone except those dealing with cancer. I have a lot of experience with digestion, Leaky Gut, Herpes, Epstein Barr, Adrenals, Thyroid, autoimmune disorders, allergies, anxiety, sleep, and of course clarifying what to eat.
Do I have a staff?
I work alone, except for my office manager Elizabeth who helps you on Tuesdays and Fridays, the only days my clinic is open. She packs orders from the clinic shelves, takes them to the Post Office, returns calls and orders supplements. I see clients and help her ship.
I handle all emails and client work on my own. I work short hours 6 days a week – it’s my great privilege to participate in the health of others. In 36 years of practice I’ve seen the lives of whole families turn around. What a gift!
After Food and Lifestyle Improve
First appointments #1 and #2 are for health history, Food/Sleep/Mood Diary, looking at your existing labs, and giving homework on areas I see need attention first. Maybe a supplement or two. Often a Salivary Hormone Test.
After that, when I know your food and lifestyle are headed in a better direction, I want to build a supplement program for you and see what labs (if any) we need. If the first few weeks already cleared up half your issues (a common finding), you’ll be glad we didn’t run labs if things are going to resolve with food and lifestyle solutions.
See? It’s so much more efficient that way. Yes, you do the work, but if you hope for real and permanent change, you’re going to have to take action to get it. Taking handfuls of pills is never the first step. Let me repeat that.
Just adding handfuls of supplements to the life you currently lead is not going to change your future.
A few more things to consider: Adrenal hormones, checking thyroid labs, low Progesterone, chronic pain, reflux, poor sleep, emotional and physical trauma, viruses/bacteria/yeast, poor dental work, mold and heavy metal exposure, causes of constipation or loose stool, skipping meals, headaches, worry, lack of play and rest, and sooooo much more. The organs themselves may be fine, but there may a lack of communication between them. Or there may be an area that’s not functioning as well as it should. Good interview techniques and labs help me be the best detective I can be.
What’s in my Online Store?
If you can’t do a Consult right now, please study my articles and use my Online Store. I carry professional products for viruses and Candida, gentle thyroid and adrenal support and excellent herbs for sleep, stress and anxiety. And allergies! These products are hand-picked from the hundreds in my office to be easy to use, safe, and effective. Click the Supplement Category that looks helpful. Every product has useful information written on it.
I only carry professional grade supplements, not discount store products. Many of them are LESS expensive than Amazon as they are not technically allowed to be sold there. Scalpers buy from professionals and resell there at a mark-up.
