Wondering how to wean off Valtrex?

When is the right time?

How do you control Herpes without Valtrex?

I’ve been Consulting Clients since 1985 on a huge range of Functional Health issues. Controlling Herpes is a frequent area of my work.

Having myself struggled with HSV for decades, I know how to first get it under control, then manage it for a lifetime.

My genetic immune deficiency forced me to understand how this virus works and what to do about it. I still manage it daily as my immune system is not able to control it properly, even with the right diet and terrific supplements.

Understanding The Paleo Diet For Herpes is the best place to start to control HSV, and then see if you can wean off Valtrex with some help from supplements.

Functional Health Support with Minimum Prescriptions

I never used Valtrex, preferring a correct low-Arginine Diet for Herpes and verified professional-grade supplements instead.

What to eat (and why) and the supplements I use are fully detailed in my 90 minute Herpes Managment PowerPoint. And in many articles and Podcasts on my website.

This Guide is more affordable ($99) than one-on-one Consults. I prefer those once people have incorporated the diet and supplements then want support specific to their overall health issues.

Or, Contact me and I’ll walk you through the whole process whether you are near my San Antonio Diet & Health Center or anywhere in the US.

When is Valtrex an Option?

If you are not able to control your diet, and cannot afford quality supplements, Valtrex is an alternative.

BUT….

Valtrex does have side effects. It can affect your B-12 status in the long run. Can give you stomach cramps, headaches, nausea and skin rash when starting it or if too high a dose.

More importantly….

Valtrex does not control THE CAUSE of your viral outbreaks.

If you understand WHY the virus flares, YOU are more in charge and may find you rarely need Valtrex.

Want to Wean Off Valtrex?

Valtrex is a suppressive. Not a cure.

It is only holding off the virus FOR NOW. (This week, today).

It does not control the cause of the virus, so some people have flare-ups again (and again) if they just stop taking it. Others have a mild form of the virus and their immune system is already fighting it properly.

Do you know if you still need Valtrex?

We’re all different.

If you had a mild outbreak 3 years ago and started Valtrex then, you can wean off faster and more confidently than someone (like me) who struggled with severe frequent outbreaks.

Get on the low-Arginine Diet!

This is detailed in my PowerPoint but also in all of my Herpes blog posts and Podcasts. Especially Adapting the Paleo Diet for Herpes.

Try to stick with ONE author (me) when researching Herpes – too many conflicting ideas, bad advice and “miracle cures” will confuse you.

Start with this article and Primal Diet – Modern Health Podcast titled “Using the Lysine Arginine Ratio for Herpes Support”.

Can I Just Stop Taking Valtrex?

It depends on your health history and Herpes history.

If you have changed your diet the way my articles detail, and are not having constant outbreaks, start reducing your Valtrex dose.

Tablets cut in half easily.

The goal is to control the virus with the low-Arginine diet, manage it week to week with higher or lower doses of CORRECT supplements as needed, and only take perhaps 1/2 a Valtrex on occasion.

Don’t stop Valtrex overnight if you are taking it daily.

Don’t stop it until the CAUSE of the virus (high Arginine) is controlled. Get familiar with the 8 supplements in the Herpes Control Pack and learn how to dose them.

How to Wean Off Valtrex

First step is getting comfortable with your new diet.

Eliminating GRAINS and NUTS is step one. Breads, flour, corn, rice, almonds, coconut meat, etc. are all high in Arginine which feeds Herpes viruses (including Shingles and Epstein Barr).

Follow the diet advice in the Herpes Webinar or my blog posts and Podcasts, reduce the other high Arginine foods.

This generally has an immediate impact on outbreak severity and frequency.

Secondly, manage your stress triggers. We all know Herpes is triggered by stress.

This will start to bring the virus under control. Now manage it with correct, professional supplements (see my Store’s Herpes category).

Now start to wean off Valtrex. Cut pills in half. Reduce dose and frequency. If you need 1/2 a pill now and then while learning the diet and the supplements, that’s OK.

Herpes is Not “Curable”

Control and manage it. I have many Clients and Podcast fans who tell me they have controlled HSV with my information from articles and the webinar.

The diet is similar to Gluten-Free Paleo, or Ancestral eating, but has additional foods high in Arginine to avoid.

Eat heartily and feel better!
