Causes of Heartburn and Reflux: PODCAST

Beverly Meyer

Beverly Talks Solo, Digestion and Reflux, Gluten and Health, Grains and Sugars, Podcast

A woman holds her stomach and appears in painEating and digesting should not hurt!  This Primal Diet – Modern Health Podcast explores newer thinking in the causes of heartburn and reflux.

Heartburn, indigestion and gas can be understood and fixed with some help and a new way of thinking.  For example, if the neurotransmitter GABA is low, heartburn can be a sign of GABA deficiency.

In this podcast I’ll cover some surprising causes of indigestion seldom heard from your doctor but that I see in my clinic and Consults all the time.

We’ll talk about chewing gum, excess fluids with meals, food intolerances, small hernias and many more.  These problems don’t go away on their own. And medications may only relieve symptoms but not the causes.

Let’s fix them without drugs or surgery!  Kids suffer from this too. It would also be nice to never hear “Mommy, my tummy hurts” again…

Antacids can create many problems. Since stomach acid helps kill off bad bacteria in food, blocking our acids can easily cause incomplete digestion and possible infection with bacteria. Reflux and heartburn are seldom caused by EXCESS acid. Let’s rethink this!

Indigestion is often caused by food sensitivities. In Consults I teach clients how to replace grains, sugars and processed foods with a more nutrient-dense Paleo Diet. I have excellent digestive support in the Online Store if vegetables and starch are hard for you to digest. Try GutZyme or D-Digest.
